See that little girl in Ohio with the brown, wavy hair looking up at the sky with blue eyes full of wonder? Yep, that’s me.

My love story with travel began when I was very young. I would lie on the grass, look at the planes in the sky, their jet streams trailing behind and ask myself “where they’re going?” London, Paris, the Caribbean, the South Sea Islands, Africa? Anywhere they were going I knew would be the grand adventure of a lifetime.

Before I was a teenager, I rode the hump of a camel to the pyramids of Egypt, was baptized in the River Jordan and somberly toured Anne Frank’s home in Amsterdam. I traveled to the glamourous Big Apple and cruised the Bahamas. I even threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Yes, right hand over left shoulder. I knew I did it right because I’ve returned several times, always repeating the ritual. Not bad for a girl from small town Ohio.

My family was not wealthy but they instilled in me the love of travel.  Fast forward the clock and travel opportunities multiplied because of all the luck, I married a Naval Officer. And we traveled. Moving from one duty station to another, we lived in places like New England, Virginia, Charleston, South Carolina, and Naples, Italy, to our nation’s capital, westward to Arizona, finally settling in San Diego.

We’ve been blessed with two married children and two grandchildren who were all bit by the travel bug too.

I’ve been a registered nurse for over 32 years and three years ago decided it was time to save “me” and took the leap to become a travel writer. Over 225 published articles later in 27 different in-print and online publications, I know this is where I belong.

Ibn Battuta once said “Traveling—it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” There are so many stories waiting to be told. And I want to tell them.

I welcome your companionship and comments as I share my adventures of travel through both story and picture. It’s a journey I look forward to and who knows where it will lead us?
